Chapter 3

1 "I will send My messenger, who will prepare the way before Me. Then the Lord you are looking for will come." 2 "Who can endure the day of His coming? Who can stand when He appears? He will be like a refiner’s fire, purifying you." 3 "He will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver." 4 Then the offerings will be pleasing to the Lord, as they should be." 5 "I will come to judge those who are doing wrong. I will punish those who cheat, commit adultery, lie, and oppress others." 6 "I, the Lord, do not change. So, you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed." 7 "Return to Me, and I will return to you," says the Lord. "But you ask, 'How can we return?'" 8 Will a man rob God? Yet you rob Me. You ask, 'How are we robbing You?' In tithes and offerings." 9 "You are under a curse because you are robbing Me. Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, and I will bless you. 10 Test Me in this. Bring your offerings, and I will pour out blessings on you." 11 "I will prevent pests from destroying your crops, and your vines will bear fruit." 12 "All the nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land." 13 You have spoken arrogantly against Me," says the Lord. "Yet you say, 'What have we said against You?'" 14 "You have said, 'It’s useless to serve God. What do we gain by following His commands?'" 15 "Now we call the arrogant blessed. Evil people prosper." 16 3:16 "Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord listened and heard them." 17 They will be Mine, and I will spare them. I will treat them as sons and daughters." 18 "You will see the difference between the righteous and the wicked."
