Chapter 2

1 Now, this warning is for you priests. 2 "If you don’t listen and honor My name, I will curse you and your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them." 3 I will spread waste on your faces and make you ashamed." 4 "Then you will know that I have sent you this warning." 5 I made a covenant with Levi, and I gave him life and peace. He honored Me and feared Me. He spoke the truth and turned many away from sin." 6 "The teachings of a true priest bring peace, and people listen to his words." 7 "A priest should be a messenger of God’s truth, but you have turned away from this." 8 You have led many into sin by your teachings. You have broken the covenant with Levi." 9 "I will make you a disgrace among the people, because you have not followed My ways." 10 Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? So why do we break faith with each other?" 11 "Judah has broken faith. Israel has done something vile. They have married people who worship idols." 12 "God will cut off those who do this, even if they bring offerings to the Lord Almighty." 13 "You cover the Lord’s altar with tears, weeping and groaning because He no longer accepts your offerings." 14 You ask why He doesn’t accept your offerings. It’s because the Lord is witness to your vows. You have been unfaithful to the wife of your youth." 15 "God wants faithful marriages. Be loyal to the wife you married when you were young." 16 "The Lord hates divorce. He hates the one who covers himself with violence." 17 You wear out the Lord by asking, 'When will justice happen?' But God says, 'I will come to judge the wicked.'"
