1 Well, on the third day, there was a big ol’ weddin’ in a little town called Cana, up in Galilee. Jesus’ mama was there, and Jesus and His disciples got themselves invited too. 2 So, when they run out of wine, Jesus' mama says to Him, “Son, they’s outta wine.” 3 Jesus looks at her and says, “What’s that got to do with me, woman? My time ain’t come yet.” 4 But His mama don’t say nothin’ else. She just turns to the folks workin' the weddin’ and tells ‘em, “Y’all just do whatever He tells ya.” 5 Now, there was these six big ol’ water jars sittin’ over by the door. They was used for folks to wash their hands and feet. They each held about 20 or 30 gallons. 6 Jesus tells the servants, “Fill them jars up with water.” So they filled ‘em up all the way to the top. 7 Then Jesus says, “Now, draw some of that water out and take it to the head feller of the weddin’ party.” 8 So they done what He said, and when the head feller tasted it, he didn’t know where it come from. But the servants, they knew it was the water that turned into wine. He calls the groom over and says, 9 Y’all usually serve the best wine first, then when folks’ve had a little too much, you bring out the cheaper stuff. But you, you done saved the best wine for last!” 10 Well, that was the first big miracle Jesus done, and He done it in Cana, Galilee. He showed His glory, and His disciples believed in Him. 11 After that, He went on down to Capernaum with His mama, His brothers, and His disciples, and stayed there a few days. 12 Now, it was almost time for the Passover feast, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 13 When He got there, He saw folks sellin’ cattle, sheep, and doves, and money changers sittin’ around makin' deals. 14 So He made a whip outta some cords, and He drove them critters right outta the temple. He flipped over the tables of the money changers and told ‘em, 15 Get all this mess outta here! Quit turnin’ My Father’s house into a dang ol’ marketplace!” 16 The disciples remembered that it says in the Good Book, “Zeal for Your house will consume Me.” 17 So the folks there in Jerusalem, they was askin' Him, “What kinda sign can you show us to prove you got the right to do all this?” 18 Jesus says to ‘em, “Destroy this temple, and I’ll raise it up in three days.” 19 Well, they was all puzzled and said, “It took 46 years to build this temple, and you’re gonna raise it up in three days?” 20 But Jesus wasn’t talkin’ ‘bout the temple made of stones. He was talkin’ ‘bout His own body. 21 After He rose from the dead, His disciples remembered He’d said that, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken. 22 Now, while He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, a lot of folks seen the signs He was doin’ and believed in His name. 23 But Jesus, He didn’t trust ‘em, ‘cause He knew what was in their hearts. 24 He didn’t need no one to tell Him nothin' about people, ‘cause He already knew what folks were like. 25 He didn’t need anybody to explain to Him what people were up to. He understood folks’ hearts just fine.
