1 This is what the Lord says: “The people of Moab have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished. They have burned ashened bones of the king of Edom into lime. 2 So I will send down fire on Moab, and all the cities will be destroyed. The people will fall in the streets, with no one to help them. 3 I will destroy their ruler and slaughter all their officials with him,” says the Lord. 4 This is what the Lord says: “The people of Judah have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished. They have rejected the instruction of the Lord, refusing to obey his decrees. They have been led astray by the same lies that deceived their ancestors. 5 So I will send down fire on Judah, and all the cities will be destroyed. The people will fall in the streets, with no one to help them 6 This is what the Lord says: “The people of Israel have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished. They sell innocent people for silver and poor people for a pair of sandals. They trample the poor, and take bribes from the needy. They deprive the poor of justice at the city gates. 7 And as a result, the righteous are being pushed aside. The wicked prosper, and the people of Israel have no respect for the Lord. 8 I will destroy the altars of the Lord in Bethel, and the high places of the sinful people of Israel. The people of Israel will fall in the streets. 9 They will be no more. 10 “But the people of Israel will see their destruction, and the days will come when they will be swept away, and none will remain in the land.” 11 I raised up prophets from among your own children and Nazarites from among your young men. Isn’t this true, people of Israel?" asks the Lord. 12 "But you caused the Nazarites to sin by making them drink wine, and you commanded the prophets, ‘Shut up!’ 13 So I will make you groan like a wagon loaded down with sheaves. 14 The swift will not escape, the strong will not muster their strength, and the mighty will not save their lives. 15 The archers will not stand their ground, the foot soldiers will not escape, and the horsemen will not save themselves. 16 Even the bravest warriors will flee naked on that day," declares the Lord.
